Technical Officials

Please find below a message from Triathlon Ireland

As a condition for club races to be sanctioned, it is a requirement that a club put forward 2 of their club members for every race they run, to officiate at another race (up to a maximum of 6 members). As your club is running 1 race, you are required to nominate 2 members.

As always, we would be grateful if you can provide more members where possible. Can you please email me the names of your members who will be available to officiate at races this year by Tuesday 10th January. We will then contact them asking for races they will be available to officiate at. With an ever increasing number of races being held each year, we feel it necessary that all Technical Officials attend a training session prior to the upcoming race season.

We are holding training sessions in February, March and April. For all Technical Officials who were trained last year, we would strongly encourage them to attend one of the refresher courses. For all Technical Officials who were trained prior to 2011, we will require them to attend one of these training sessions. Please click here for further details of these training sessions.

To incentivise Technical Officials in 2012, we will continue to pay a rate of €50 plus mileage to every Technical Official for the race they officiate at.

In addition to these rates, we may look into the possibility of arranging guaranteed race entry into some events in 2013 for Technical Officials who officiate at a large number of races. As an example, after reviewing the races that Technical Officials officiated at in 2011, it was clear that a small number of Technical Officials officiated at a large number of TI sanctioned races in 2011, and as a token of our appreciation, we arranged a guaranteed race entry for them in a number of races in 2012 that have traditionally been difficult to enter.
