It’s coming towards the end of January and the majority of members seem to be laying a very strong training base in advance of the race season. The numbers in Piranha are continuing to grow and we currently have in excess of 240 members.

The growth in triathlon has been phenomenal and Piranha has benefited hugely from this growth. In the past number of years, we have greatly increased the number of training sessions open to our members and have done so while managing to reduce the membership fee. We are a unique club in that all our regular training sessions are provided free of charge.

For €20 per month, members can get 12 swims, 12 runs and 4 cycles.

This works out at €0.74 per session or less if you pay in one instalment.

On top of this, all sessions are coached and the club has an excellent head coach in Elena Maslova.

We have a record number of athletes going on Warm Weather Training and Kevin and Diana have kindly offered to forsake their training in an effort to provide coaching to all the athletes.

Work is underway for our club race, DCT and John Wallnutt has been appointed as the race director.

An unbelievable amount of work goes on in the background to be able to cater to all levels of triathlete and we are always looking at ways to improve the sessions on offer.

Over the coming weeks, there will be a series of announcements aiming to improve the level of training being offered.
I would urge all members to put their hands up and volunteer. This is not a gym, it is a club and our success is dependent on members helping out.

James Hoare

Piranha Chairman
