Fellow Piranha members lend me your ears ………..

With Only 25 days left to DCT it is getting very close. The race sold out 2 weeks ago and I have had approx 200 emails from people looking for places. We have 1000 lucky athletes who will descend on the Garda boat Club on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th. We,as a club have worked extremely hard to get this event to where it is. This year we have 124 employees from Vodafone taking part headed by Vodafone CEO and long time Piranha member Anne O’Leary. We will have the Lord Mayor of Dublin taking part. It is a National Series Race as well as the Olympic distance National championships and will have the top 20 male and female competitors in the country taking part . It will have THE BEST goodie bag of any race, It will have a new cheer zone as well as all the other great aspects to it. The planning started back in December and everything is in place apart from one thing …………YOU yes YOU because without you this race does not happen, the planning and organisation will have been a waste of time and the athletes will not get to compete in THE RACE of the YEAR.

So far the response to the call out for stewards has been very poor ( I’m holding back here). We have 240 active members and so far 30 have bothered to confirm they will be there on either Saturday, Sunday or both. About 10 have made their apologies to me as they are away at the time of the event and offered their services while they can. So if YOU are one of the other 200 members can you please reply to the email sent if you got one. Dara Lawlor will be sending out another round of emails soon so if you have not received any email about DCT by next week please let me know by posting a comment here or email Dara directly at dara.lawlor@gmail.com. As a member of Piranha it is a REQUIREMENT of membership as stated on the membership form that you are available to help at DCT.

SO MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE SATURDAY 24th AND MORE IMPORTANTLY SUNDAY 25TH (from early till 2pm)

John Wallnutt
Race Director
