With only 47 days to go to DCT2014 things are already starting to take shape. Much planning has being going on in the back ground and I am happy to confirm that the main worry point of road closure has been approved by the Dublin City Council, OPW and Garda. The course will stay the same as last year with the finish line in the Phoenix Park. The success of the race in the past few years is reflected in the volume of entries with Vodafone taking up 40 relay teams, the Olympic Race with 600 entries now sold out and only 60 entries left in the Super Sprint race. So we will again have a sell out race. This year again the competitors will be hopefully going away after enjoying a well organised and professionally run event. They will also leave with another fantastic goodie bag, Quality cycling jacket and a really cool medal.
A lot of work goes in to planning the race but without the members of Piranha showing up on Saturday for Registration and mainly on Sunday to Marshall this event would not happen. DCT is known for the support and good nature of all the marshalls on the course. If you read all the comments we got back, which are on the DCT website you will see this fact is mentioned many times. If you have been a member a few years you know its a great day to be on the other side of the ropes. If your a new member you probably know you are required to help on race day. But you will be part of a team of over 100 stewards which are needed to run the event to the high level it is at now. You will all be contacted in the coming few weeks asking you to confirm your availability. Please reply to the email. Please reply if you are available or not. We need to know who is available and who is not. If your not available your going to miss one of the best days in the Triathlon Season.
If you are interest in getting involved a little more than as a steward please let me know now.
We have won Race of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Would I like to make it 3 in a row ….DAMN RIGHT I WOULD !!! but it is going to take 110% from everyone involved to do it and still be HUNGRY FOR MORE
