Please see below for your nominations for the club awards and some new committee roles that are looking for volunteers.

Piranha AGM:

Date: Saturday 5th October
Location: Clarion Hotel IFSC
Time: 7pm 

Drinks from 12am will be in Samsara Bar. 

The nominations are in! Due to the overwhelming amount of people in the Most Improved category we’ve split it into Most Improved Male & Female. Awards will be announced and presented at the AGM on the 5th of Ocober.

Remember you can only vote once! Voting is closed!

The nominations are as follows:

Best Male Newcommer –  Hugh Larkin, Jonathan Maguire, Martin Dunne, Paul O’Donovan, Rochard Doyle, Tom McEnery, Wayne Boylan.
Best Female Newcommer – Andrea Szilagy, Erin O’Connell, Louise Bennett, Sarah Corcoran.
Most Improved Female – Aileen Flynn, Ellen Shilling, Katie Fitzgerald, Linda O’Neill, Sharon McGuire.
Most Improved Male – Alan Duggan, Ian Cassidy, Ivan Eustace, Neil Turley, Richard Doyle.
Best Race Report:

Everest Award: 

  • Brendan O’Brien – For completing the cycle from Dublin to S. Africa
  • Ciara NiF – 14 months from start of beginners day triathlon finished a full distance tri, and did it well!
  • Elena – for her long term dedication to the club both as an athlete and more recently as a coach.
  • Ian Cassidy – for his dedication to the club  
  • James for walking 5km with his bike in Lost Sheep and still going on to finish the race & His hard work over the past two years as Chairman of the club
  • John Wallnutt – For DCT Race director a third year in a row
  • Judy Mahon – for her great comback
  • Kevin Leavy –  for orgainising the biggest WWT and staying sane while looking after everyone during a very challenging WWT
  • Matt Coughlan for club champ 4/5 years running
  • Matt Coughlan for partnering Michael Delaney in both TriAthlone and the World Champs in London
  • Niall McDonnell & Stephen Cawley for all their hard work and dedication & a special thanks from the beginners swim lane.
  • Sinead Breen – For completing the galway bay Swim.
  • Stephen Eustace – for doing CPR and coming to the aid of a runner at the phoenix park half marathon

Piranha Triathlon Club – New Committee 2013 / 2014

The club invites nominations from interested members to fill a number of committee positions. The new committee will be elected on the 6th October at the AGM.

Chairman – James Hoare is stepphing down. Nominations are invited for this role

  •  The Club Chairperson is responsible for coordinating the running and operation of the club, organising and chairing committee meetings with a view to defining and achieving club goals and objectives, and acting as an official club contact and representative. – See more at: http://www.cloverock.info/piranha/oldsite/contact#sthash.7xJciJC4.dpuf

Secretary – Rory O’Sullivan is stepping down. Nominations are invited for this role. Phil Sykes has been nominiated for this role

  • Recording the minutes of all club meetings is one of the most important functions of the secretary. The secretary maintains the minutes in a club record book, which serves as the official record of the club’s activities. Member attendance records of both regularly scheduled and special meetings are maintained by the secretary.

Training– Diana Stafford is stepping down. Nominations are invited for 2 members to cover the role of Training Officer. 

The main roles of the training officer(s) are –

  • To work with the Training Coordinator to ensure the delivery of appropriate training sessions and plans.
  • To develop, implement and review as necessary recruitment procedures for all coaches and assistant coaches. 
  • To work with the full coaching staff to ensure the delivery of appropriate training sessions. 
  • To work with the club discipline captains and the sub committee to ensure that the training needs of all members are met as effectively as possible. 
  • To ensure that members are aware of club sessions and try to ensure members attend appropriate number and type of sessions.
The aim will be to divide tasks between the two training officers.

Marketing & Web Site–  Ellen Shilling will go forward for re-election. Dara Lawlor has very kindly offered to cover this for November and December.

The main roles of the marketing, web and PR officer(s) are –

  • Update the website, activate and manage all accounts.
  • Post stories and source race reports.
  • Keep Facebook and Twitter up to date.
  • All website admin.
  • Deal with queries re piranha from members thinking of joining.
  • Manage any additions to the website – eg bike boxes, gear shop etc.
  • Creating and distributing email newsletters
  • Writing & distributing press releases and handling press queries
  • Sourcing and organising triathlon related seminars and workshops

Membership-Leo Hughes is stepping down. Barry McIntyre has been nominated for this role.

The main roles of the membership officer are –

  • Keep membership list up to date. 
  • Supply Westwood with regular updates of membership list
  • Check bank accounts for all SO payments on a monthly basis
  • Process any new membership requests 
  • Make sure all members have TI membership and are insured to train. 

Finance- John Staunton will go forward for re-election

The main role of the Treasurer is to

  • Oversee the financial affairs of the club and plan for its ongoing financial viability
  • Manage the club financial accounts, and report on financial status to committee and members
  • Operate the club’s financial process, managing bank accounts and all related invoicing and payment matters for the club

Social & Gear –  Petrina Mulroe wll go forward for re-election.

The main roles of the Events (Social & Gear) officer are –

  • Organise variety of social events during the year (Xmas party, JD post run, Club Champs afters, T.I. Awards night and any other random social activity that may arise)
  • AGM – organise nominations & prizes/trophies for all awards, locate and collate presentations.
  • Organise any other random ideas that arise during the year!
  • Gear – two orders per year – winter and preseason.   Link with PR officer to activate gear shop & treasurer re payment & discounts, coordinate distribution of gear to members
