As 1/2 of PR & Marketing, Sharon looks after the piranha website, is responsible for promoting the club, getting people to join, updating fb, twitter, getting people involved in the website and soo much more. She’s leaving the committee this year (sniff, sniff) so if any of you would like to replace her the vacant positions will be put up on the site in the coming days.
So Sharon…….
1. How did you get into triathlon?
I lived with two piranha triathletes (Tadhg & Cormac) for a while and thought they were totally mad. I once swore that I would do a marathon before I’d do a triathlon (and yet I still haven’t done a marathon!). Slowly they began to wear me down and after watching a few events I knew I wanted to do one. So when I went travelling to Australia I decided to join a club, where no one at home could see me embarrass myself, and I never turned back! 🙂
2. What’s your favourite training session?
I don’t really have one. I never really liked one sport over the other as I like the combination. I like that every session is different as otherwise I would get bored!
3. What training session do you dread the most?
All of them when I haven’t trained in a while! 🙂
4. When not training, how do you like to relax?
I love going to the movies, going to a cafe with a good book, walking, sea swims (dips not training)…
5. As out going PR & Marketing committee member, what will you miss most about being on the committee?
I’ll miss the excitement of DCT the most I think!
6. What piece of kit have you been lusting over but haven’t yet purchased?
A carbon fibre bike…. haven’t managed to narrow it down to what exact one I’d like and I also haven’t managed to justify it yet so it will have to wait another wee while.
7. Favorite karaoke song? And who would you drag on stage with you?
Me, singing and being on stage do not get along at all, so I would probably drag Petrina up on stage to sing some amazing song and I would mouth the lyrics behind her!
8. What was the last book you read and was it any good?
The best of everything by Rona Jaffe – I loved it actually, real girlie book about five young women starting their first jobs in New York City in the 1950s.
9. Favourite Indulgence?
Popcorn with maltesers….. nom nom nom!
10. Any advice to anyone new to triathlon?
Well I can pass on the best piece of advice I ever got which was someone in Australia once said to me when I was panicking about coming last in a race, “I never worry about if I will come last in a race, I just think if it ever happens that I’m doing everyone else a favour so they won’t feel bad coming last”.
Thanks Sharon – I’m going to miss you on the committee 🙂
