Started my sporting history in Martial arts and attained several black belts over the 25 years I trained. Always wanted to be a triathlete but like a lot of folks I simply couldn't swim to save my life or anybody else's. Tried adventure races for 5 years and enjoyed them but there were not the holy grail in endurance sport .So one day in Oct 2014 I bit the bullet and enrolled in swimming lessons in Westwood. Six weeks latter I could swim 100 meter and was only half dead at the end of it. Anyway after that I joined Piranha and boy oh boy did I get a shock. Was it hard? Yes Did I feel like giving up? Lots of times. Was it worth it ?Yes big time and still is. Did I drink a lot of the Westwoods pools water ?Did i what. Was I tired of people asking me if I had a cold after each swimming session ?Oh yes. At present I am swimming about 30 lengths plus each night 'and toward the end of the night 'its easier its getting not harder and in all honesty if I can do it anyone can.Im 55 now and so sorry I didn't try this earlier but better now than never. I can hold my own with the younger folks (whipper snappers) and there's no more hiding in the corner in the pool hugging on to the ladder. Im so looking forward to the summer ahead with Piranha and training with the guys and girls of the club .I can only see good times ahead.
