ParticipantCalling Marco and Andi?

Participant@Moody: … on the bright side, at least I finished the swim this time 😳 😮

ParticipantCongratulations, great performance.
Was chatting to Moody’s bike after the CK Tri at the weekend. Seemingly it wants to upgrade its rider. 😀

ParticipantI’m going:
Phil “Wetpants” Sykes. 😀
See you there, Moody – I’m Wave 2 if you want to draft off me 😉

ParticipantThere was a good talk organised by Ellen in February/March (I think) – the post about it is here:
https://www.piranhatri.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2136&hilit=nutrition” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;.
It was very informative and gave exactly the sort of information you are talking about – I think the slides subsequently became available via Ellen and you may be able to get a copy. Beth, the presenter, was very experienced and went into a huge level of detail. She might be able to help you get your fuelling right for training and racing.
Cheers,
Phil

ParticipantI am told the Seals have pups at this time of year and that the pups are quite playful with some swimmers and the parents become anxious as a result. This can result in “nips” from the parents. I have no actual experience of this myself, nor do I know anyone who has. The nips could allegedly penetrate/damage a wetsuit, but again I have not seen it. I did once see a man from a group of swimmers with binoculars on Killiney Beach keeping an eye out for Seals, but that was a couple of years ago.
It might be sensible to see what the other bathers are doing when you get down there, especially if they don’t have wetsuits on 😮 !

ParticipantSorry, Sinead – I have to be in the UK this weekend. Otherwise would definitely be there.
Can I just recommend this session to other members? It was great to be able to practice open water techniques etc. under supervision and to get a longer session done in what is effectively the race environment. Sighting and Drafting can be practised (and some of us need more sighting practice than others 😳 ) properly and less confident swimmers can get used to the open water environment in safety. There is room for all abilities, subject to being able to swim the minimum requirement, and you will not be left on your own. Above all, it was good craic as you might expect with Moody back from Roth 🙄 !
Thanks,
Phil

ParticipantNo wetsuits at the Commonwealth Games Tri in Glasgow yesterday! Think my daughter is coming with me, so we may do the shorter swim with no wetsuits – my street cred will be nil if she has no wetsuit and I do. 😉

ParticipantSwim hats off! Well done. 😎
I had hoped to take part but had to head North at short notice.
Phil Sykes
ParticipantThanks, Conall.

ParticipantI’m going to come along – assuming I survive the night swim in Seapoint this evening!
Where’s the best place to park for this location – don’t mind a few mins walk.
Cheers,
Phil.

ParticipantThanks Paddy and Judy – looks as though it could be fun. I’m going to give it a go if I can.

ParticipantSounds interesting – is there a link you could let us have?
