Anyone needing cards – I will be at swimming on Tuesday and Thursday next week to hand these out.

Please continue to note either your need for a card or your card number on the spreadsheet as I will be working off this for Westwood.

Update on the Delivery of the Summer Gear Order

It’s unlikely that we will get the gear in time for Carlow Triathlon this weekend. This is no fault of Velo’s but rather due to us making sure we got the order 100% right in terms of quality, design, etc. and as such submitting the order a week later than anticipated.

It is touch and go as to whether we will get the order delivered in time for Barcelona next week…we are hoping we do and doing all we can to facilitate this, but at this point we can’t guarantee this.

We’ve been assured that the latest we’ll get the order is before the end of May so worst case scenario, we miss a few races but will have it for the summer.

    Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

**** SUMMER ORDER GEAR UPDATE ****

Due to a few finer details that we are still ironing out, we’ve pushed back the gear orders a week or two.

We are aiming to have the order in for Tri Suits & Summer Cycling Kit towards the middle/end of March which will still see the kit available and ready for the middle of May races.

    Any queries just shout.

    Hi All

Just a reminder that sizes of gear will be available after swimming this week on Thursday, Saturday and next week on Tuesday in the Westwood change rooms. Dave O’Shea will have for the lads and I’ll have sizes for the girls. Please continue to wear your swim gear when you try the sizes on.

    Any questions just shout!

    Thanks

    Hi All

Due to a number of reasons (mainly travel and accommodation logistics and costs) – the early club race for 2017 will now be IM 70.3 Barcelona.

We did look at Challenge Lisboa, which is earlier in May, but due to SMTB not servicing this event, it was ruled out. In addition, there are thoughts of a late season race possibly being IM 70.3 Portugal, which has just been added to the racing calendar so if you aren’t able to make Barcelona then that may be an option too.

Please can you let us know if you are in by adding your name to the original spreadsheet, so that we can start getting the ball rolling on this in terms of SMTB, accommodation, transfers, etc.

    Proposed travel dates are:
    – Depart on Thursday 18th May
    – Race Sunday 21st May
    – Return Tuesday 23rd May

Apologies for the confusion and delays in getting this sorted.

    Just to update everyone:

    – Entries are now open for St. Polten – apparently it doesn’t sell out that quickly and we’ll keep you all posted if prices are changing but just wanted to make you all aware in case you wanted to secure your entry now
    – Aidan and I are still looking at travel/ bike transport/ accom options so it would be good to have numbers in terms of who’s thinking of joining so that we have a stronger negotiating position….appreciate we are only half way through this season and there’s still Dublin 70.3 and various Ironman Races to get through so it may not be top of your thought process right now, but any indication will help!

Will let you know as and when things develop.

    Thanks

After a highly contested survey response, the club race for 2017 will be St. Pölten 70.3 on the 21st May.

Please find a link to the page below, entries aren’t yet open and apparently will be opening next Wednesday.

    Ironman 70.3 St. Pölten

Aidan and I are currently trying to get further information with regards to accommodation, travel, etc. so we will be putting up a google spreadsheet this afternoon for those who plan on racing to fill in so that we have an idea on numbers.

People who wish to complete other races, such as Mallorca, are obviously 100% free to do so but St. Pölten will be the club’s main 70.3 focus for 2017.

    Thanks to all who responded

I did Aix en Provence (Pays d’Aix) in 2013

The swim was awesome in a clear and calm lake.
The bike is hilly with about 1200m of climbing
The run was 4 loops, but I think it’s now 3 loops – also not flat
Transition is split but the race was incredibly well organised and the racking of bikes the day before was easy and smooth (just a bit of a trek to get there and back the day before and on the morning of the race although there were plenty of buses)

It’s a great race but not a flat and fast one
