Great update Richie. Better luck next time with the directions!
Just to clarify I was the fourth female Piranha home after being overtaken by the newly married Siobhan Duggan on the bike who came in third. Also congrats to Martina Duignan who placed third in her age group and thanks to Siobhan Forman for organising the accommodation and meal.
lindaclarkeParticipantHi Sharon,
My spot in the advanced lane is free this week or if you are looking for an inter lane place, I think Aileen’s space is available for the rest of the block.
Linda
lindaclarkeParticipantMy spot in the advanced lane is also free this Friday morning (11th Nov).

lindaclarkeParticipantI’ve spectated at both Aix en Provence and Lisbon (before it became a Challenge event)
Negatives for Aix en Provence are the split transition and also the fact that it is difficult to get to from Ireland (we flew into Nice and had a c. 2 hour drive). Also, I think the swim was cancelled this year (weather/water temp), so that is a risk. However its a gorgeous town and lovely food and wine!
Lisbon was much easier to get to. I recall that the airport is only about a 15 minute drive away from race HQ. Swim is in a dock so relatively protected, bike is mainly motorway, very flat, and run is flat but I think the surface is mixed…cobblestones in parts. Open to clarification…as I was only spectating! A great city and a short train journey into the city centre from race HQ.
lindaclarkeParticipantI wont be there either. Another advanced lane spot free.

Last year there was talk that we should hire a mini bus to drive from the start to the finish. I feel another WA group coming along….

I did this last year and really enjoyed it so count me in! I’m a female and a vet so definitely a help with the qualifying criteria.
Linda
lindaclarkeParticipantHi Simon & Ciara,
Aileen and Jane are both away at WWT in Portugal. Both swim in the inter lane and I don’t think that anyone has taken their spots for tomorrow.
Linda
lindaclarkeParticipantI’ll be in Killarney on the 18th March so my spot in the advanced lane and several others (no doubt!) will be free too.

lindaclarkeParticipantMy spot is also free tomorrow – advanced lane
lindaclarkeParticipantHi Pablo,
I did this swim a few years ago and would highly recommend it. Very well organised. You swim around the island, so just try to keep the tightest line to certain points on the island. You reach the most exposed part, about half way around and I think there is a lighthouse on Valentia Island that is good for sighting at that point. I remember finding the last bay extra long, but I was swimming without a wetsuit and was starting to get cold at that stage. Enjoy!
lindaclarkeParticipantHi all,
My spot in the advanced lane is also free this Friday 4th Sept.
Thanks,
Linda
lindaclarkeParticipantI won’t be there either. Advanced lane
