This Wednesday I won’t make it down to the swim, but the tide is hitting its low just before 9 so by 7/7.30 it will be a bit on the low side at seapoint.

If you plan to attend post up, with the time suiting you best and I guess the concensus will dictate the start time.

Planning to go out this week – anyone else heading out?
If tide is too low at seapoint, could go from the 40ft instead?

For those swimming at 40 foot please be aware of the seals

Are there many seals about? Do they attack? I guess someone in a wetsuit might look attractive to them!

Planning to swm at the 40 foot this evening around 7- anyone else going?
Low tide is 8pm, so i dont think seapoint would be an option

I am told the Seals have pups at this time of year and that the pups are quite playful with some swimmers and the parents become anxious as a result. This can result in “nips” from the parents. I have no actual experience of this myself, nor do I know anyone who has. The nips could allegedly penetrate/damage a wetsuit, but again I have not seen it. I did once see a man from a group of swimmers with binoculars on Killiney Beach keeping an eye out for Seals, but that was a couple of years ago.

It might be sensible to see what the other bathers are doing when you get down there, especially if they don’t have wetsuits on 😮 !

    Phil.
