Thanks to those who recently submitted their interest for attending a Warm Weather Training camp in 2019.
Unfortunately when we engaged La Santa to finalize costs/accommodation reservations based on the initial expressions of interest- we discovered that they have increased their accommodation costs by 30% (including restrictions on the room options).
So we have reluctantly resigned ourselves to not being able to run a pure Piranha camp this year as was not cost competitive compared to last year or alternative offerings who seemed to have secured rooms before the price hike.
Having said that – there are alternative externally run camps that may be of interest to members – details outlined below on best options we could find
Option 1
-

Dates 1st – 8th Feb
Location Club La Santa, Lanzarote
Camp cost € approx E250 [accommodation not included]
Approx cost per person sharing 2 bed appt € E560
Food included None – all self catering

-
Run by: Russell Cox
Dates 3rd – 10th March
Location Sands, Lanzarote (hotel not as good as La Santa e.g. 1 x 25 m pool versus 3 x 50 m heated pool in La Santa)
Camp cost € approx E850 [includes accommodation based on 2 people sharing]

Food included Breakfast only
Contact details for more specific inquiries michael@triathlonireland.comNb none of the above options include
a) Flights: depend on availability – but budget circa €200 (+€40 per way for a bike box)
b) Bike rental if not want to pack/bring your own bike: budget between €150-€200 depending on availability/bike typeSo if people still interested in going external – please complete the (yes yet another) survey indicating preference and we will try to get as many Piranhas on the same camp

NB I am also looking for a WWT co-ordinator (for each camp if necessary) to help me with marshalling the troops on this – e.g. acting as main contact point on the camp you choose, setting up WA group to ensure all the Piranhas are in contact etc – so please PM via WA if keen to help for your camp selection.
Regards
Steven and Paul
