The Club committee would like to acknowledge some of the brilliant volunteer work by our members..
The annual training camp “Spring Break” is a staple on the Club calendar for many years. We were delighted to see Spring Break return again this year. Nearly 50 Piranhas made their way to Dungarvan for a long weekend of swimming, cycling, runs off the bike, trail running, hiking and yoga (and some partying!). This could not have happened without the organising sub-committee of club stalwarts Tony O’Grady and John Clarke who gave up a huge amount of their time to plan and arrange the weekend. Planning for this weekend starts a year out and a huge amount of work and energy goes into both the planning stage and ensuring everything runs smoothly over the weekend. Events like this training weekend could not happen without people like Tony and John in the club and it demonstrates the Club spirit that we are very lucky to have in Piranha. A big shout out goes also to committee member Mikey who ensured the fourth discipline was well taken care of throughout the weekend with the hard-fought camp quiz night and our camp awards night on Sunday night. A special mention also to Eric who introduced a very well-received trail run / hike around Coumshingnaun Lake in the Comeragh Mountains to the weekend schedule this year. Well done also to all the club members (especially new members) who travelled to Dungarvan and gave it socks all weekend both in training and on the dance floor! Piranha’s version of Riverdance will be formally launched at the End of Year Award’s Party.
As a token of the Club’s appreciation for all the work done on Spring Break, John and Tony will each receive a voucher!
Our Club is entirely volunteer-led and could not continue without members helping with the day to day activities and big events like this. Thanks again to all our club members who help out every year! If anyone wants to get more involved in Club volunteering, get in touch!
Thanks, Adele 🙂
