Dear Piranhas!
So many successes and activities in the Club are enhanced by the generosity, experience and time that Club Members give through volunteering, in so many different forms. It has long been acknowledged that volunteering is the lifeblood of the club. To recognise the value of volunteering in the Club, and to encourage and promote this on an ongoing basis, the Committee have introduced a Volunteer of the Month Award… This will be awarded each month to recognise the commitment, contribution and generosity of a Club Member who has gone above and beyond in volunteering their time and experience for the benefit of the Club.
And so, Volunteer of the Month Award for December goes to…
Swim Captain – Paul O’Donovan
Our swim captain Paul O’Donovan is a deserved and popular winner of the volunteer of the month award for December 2015. Paul has been fulfilling this role for the past number of years now and in doing so, has made it look easy. Paul makes it look easy by always closely monitoring the swim sessions in Westwood and UCD, regularly talking to members and coaches alike to ensure that sessions run as smoothly as possible.
Paul is an excellent conduit between the coaches, members, Westwood and the committee. He is one of the key reasons as to why we have one of the best swim programmes in a triathlon club in the country. What makes him a deserved winner is that he does it with a smile, without complaint and never asks for recognition or praise.
On behalf of the club members we would like to thank you for your continued contributions to Piranha TC.
