Hi,
So it’s that time of the year again when you are listing your resolutions and busy planning your race schedule.

Triathlon Ireland – Swim Ireland Membership
When renewing your membership, you will have the option of also selecting Swim Ireland membership. By selecting this option you avail of a form of membership with Swim Ireland titled ‘Special Membership’. This is usually €25 with Swim Ireland, but Triathlon Ireland (in conjunction with Swim Ireland) appear to be offering it at a discounted price of €15 for club members when you purchase the joint TI Race Licence and Swim Ireland Licence (€80).
For more information on what Special Membership entails, please see the following link:
https://www.swimireland.ie/membership/membership-options/special-membership
In short, Swim Ireland and Leinster Open Sea work in partnership to provide a very limited number of open sea races each summer. A list of races available to Special Members will be made available in April/May this year. Please note that as a Special Member of Swim Ireland, this does not entitle you to race in every Swim Ireland and/or Leinster Open Sea event. In most cases, you will have to be a member of a Swim Ireland sanctioned club. See link for further information on finding a swimming club near you:
https://www.swimireland.ie/membership/membership-options/club-membership
Leinster Open Seas
Leinster Open Seas are a not for profit organisation working with swimming clubs to establish a summer season of open sea races in a variety of locations along the Leinster. In order to partake in the open sea races, there are strict requirements (as listed in the link below), which includes that you are a registered member of a Swim Ireland swimming club (not a Special Member). Last year over 30 ows races were organised by Leinster Open Seas.
There are plenty of people in the club with a vast amount of experience and knowledge about the above, so do not hesitate to reach out.
Happy swimming. Remember – safety is paramount.
