Recovery Strategies in endurance athletes- Science Vs Fiction
Do you find it difficult to separate advertising from useful information?
What do you use to help you recover from a race or training? How do you know what to use? Do you find it difficult to find accurate information on what will help YOU recover better and faster? Would you like to be part of independent non-biased research?
At present there is a definite lack of factual information in this area i.e. accurate, scientifically proven information not influenced or sponsored by advertising.
We are currently undertaking a Sports Medicine research study in this area with University College Cork in conjunction with the organisers of the Connemarathon and Triathlon Ireland, who have kindly agreed to participate. We are conducting this study to look at what athletes use to recover and how they know which methods are effective.
What will this study look at?
We want to find out what athletes are using at present and compare this to medical evidence on the effectiveness of these methods.
How will this study help?
We will be able to address areas where athletes are poorly informed and ensure that by publicizing our results we will make any new information available to all participants. In addition this study will identify areas where more research is needed – which will better inform athletes in the future.
What does the study involve and how long will it take?
Your participation in this study will require you to do an anonymised one-off questionnaire, which will take up less that approximately 4 minutes of your time!
What’s in it for me?
Anyone who completes the questionnaire will get access to some essential tips on recovery based on the best available current medical evidence!
