Hello All,
Lets keep the Sunday Cycle going!!! We’ve been suffering from low numbers on the Sunday cycle recently – that’s not a complaint – merely an observation! But it is good for the legs, and for the social fabric of the club, to get a group out for a not-too-demanding Sunday Cycle.
So tomorrow we meet at Westwood at 8.20am for an 8.30am departure. We will have one route – following a section of the Dublin 70.3 bike. If the numbers are large enough we may split the group – as we need to accommodate those who are beginners and those who have a bit more speed in their legs! John Lyons is leading tomorrow’s cycle.
Please remember good bike discipline:
** There is one cycle lead – and that person is responsible for the route.
** Tight two by two groups, with regular up-and-overs and with a single-file transition are the hallmarks of a disciplined cycle group. No “half wheeling”!
** Each group has a target average speed – this should be maintained. Surges in speed (lead from the front) leads to a dragging-out of the group and members get left behind.
** Traffic lights must be obeyed – pedestrian and traffic!
** Groups should not break-up on the flat. If they do, then they should re-group as soon as reasonably practicable.
Have a great cycle.
Bernard
