Hey Members (and beginner cyclists in particular!!)

    lets get cycling!!!

    SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY!

The tragic loss of a fellow cyclist from Orwell Wheelers last weekend is a stark reminder of the discipline that we need to observe when cycling in groups. Groups must stay together. 2 abreast. Regular up and overs. Practice singling-out (left hand of pair goes forward, right hand of pair slips in behind) and re-grouping into pairs. No surging of speed. If climbing, then have gathering points so that fellow cyclists don’t get left behind.

Beginner Cyclists, we want to see you cycling!!! We have designed Group 1 specifically to support beginner cyclists. There are two bike leads dedicated to Group 1 to allow for different skill levels / speeds. This way we can split the group as needed to ensure a comfortable cycle for all members.

    8.50am for a 9.00am departure from Westwood. Groups 2 and 3: Yellow House pick-up at 9.30am

Group 1: Leads – John Lyons and Alan Owens. 40km Malahide Estuary Route Here

Group 2: Lead – Simon Montgomery – 62km – 786M Climb – Rathfarnham, Powerscourt Waterfall, Enniskerry. Route here

Group 3: Lead – Michael Barry – 78km – 1,144M Climb – Rathfarnham, Sally Gap, Enniskerry. Route Here

Happy and safe cycling. And remember your mudguards!!!

PS: 3 week Cycle Induction Course starts next Sunday, 26th February
