Hola Piranhas,
After our successful domestic training camps held in Kerry over the past number of years, we have decided that we will be changing things up this year and making the trip to Dungarvan, Co. Waterford for our 2019 camp.
There are lots of great reasons why we’ve chosen Dungarvan as this year’s location:
1. Only a 2 hour 15 minute drive from Dublin;
2. The fabulous Waterford Greenway cycling trail;
3. The “sunny southeast” – we are practically guaranteed good weather; and
4. Dungarvan is located right on the water’s edge, for anybody interested in an early season dip!!The camp will cater for members of all abilities with beginner, intermediate and advanced groups heading out each day. The camp will focus predominantly on cycling with opportunities to run and swim over the weekend. Not only is this a great opportunity to improve your fitness levels, it is also a great opportunity to get to know your fellow club mates both on the bike and at the bar!
WHO CAN GO?
For insurance reasons, only FULLY PAID UP MEMBERS of Piranha Triathlon Club are allowed to attend the camp training sessions.
WHEN IS IT KICKING OFF?
The training camp this year will kick-off on Thursday, 18th April for a total of 4 nights (Easter weekend).
WHERE ARE WE STAYING?
We have booked self-catering villas and apartments at the Gold Coast Resort, Dungarvan. Located just outside Dungarvan town, the resort has played host to numerous teams and groups which makes it the ideal spot for us to base ourselves. See more about the accommodation here. Rooms will be on a shared basis.
COACHING
This year we are delighted to announce that the renowned triathlon coach, Martin Kirwan of Focus on Fitness, will be offering his coaching services over the weekend. See more about Martin here.
He will be assisted at swim sessions by swim coach Eoin Lyons (also a podium finisher at last year’s National Championships Olympic Distance).
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The camp this year will cost EUR150 (plus a booking fee of EUR7.98) per person. The camp includes the following:
a) Coached swim, bike and run sessions throughout the weekend all specifically planned for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
b) Coaches with local knowledge
c) 4 Nights’ Self Catering Accommodation (shared rooms)
d) Use of resort leisure facilities
e) A goodie bag
f) Coffee and snacks on Saturday and Sunday cycle
g) Saturday night meal (one course only)
h) Sunday night meal and awards ceremony
i) A surprise activity or two over the weekend
j) And if weather permits, ICE CREAM!!!HOW DO I SIGN UP?
We have a limited number of spaces available this year, so please ensure to book your spot as soon as possible – it is a first come first served booking system, so don’t miss out!
If you are interested in going, you need to follow these three steps:
1. Purchase your “Training Camp Ticket” on the Eventbrite website here.
2. Please complete this questionnaire.
It’s really important to us that you complete it as this will allow us to understand what people want to get out of the weekend. We can then get cracking with our planning for what will be an epic weekend.
If for some reason you sign up and pay for the camp but find that you cannot attend closer to the date, we will make every attempt to get someone from the waiting list to take your place. However, we cannot guarantee refunds.
WHAT HAPPENS THEN?
Once the camp sells out, we will be in touch to provide a more detailed plan for the weekend and accommodation arrangements.
In the meantime, should you have any questions, please drop either Dave (oshea.da@gmail.com) or Cathal (cathal.m.osullivan@gmail.com) a mail.
Cheers

Unfortunately this year we are restricted in the number of people who can attend the camp due to capacity issues.
We have set up a waitlist for anyone who missed out and will contact you immediately should something arise and provide instructions as to how to purchase your ticket. Plans change and it is often the case that people can not make it, so hopefully something does arise.
Link to the waitlist can be found by following the below steps:
1. Please click on the Eventbrite link here.
2. Please click on “Tickets”
3. Please click on “Join List” and then enter your details.
Hopefully something will crop up.
Cheers
