Next Saturday March 5th Portmarnock Community School are holding a fitness coaching course for coaches who work with juvenile, teenage or adult teams.
The course is entitled Movement for Speed for Sport and is one of the well-renowned SAQ Courses delivered by Jim Kilty – the fitness trainer who trained the Dublin Ladies when they won their only All-Ireland in 2010 and Wexford to win the their first Camogie All-Ireland in 34 years in 2007.

Over 20,000 coaches since 2001 from all over Ireland have found this course to be exciting and thought-provoking.
The course is organised by Michael McNeive, Director of Adult Educaiton from Portmarnock Community School
The course goes from 9.30am – 3:30pm and costs €50.

The course will consist of 3 talks and 3 practical workshops
Talk 1 – Fitness for sports
Workshop 1 – Dynamic Warm-up which can be used to prepare teams for training as well as developing motor skills
Talk 2 – the importance of coaching good movement skills to young players
Workshop 2 – Mechanics of Movement drills and exercises
Talk 3 – the importance of activating the nervous system to develop speed and agility
Workshop 3 – fast feet drills and exercises to promote speed development
Talk 4 – summing up and presentation of course manuals and course certificates to all participants
