    Hi all –

The committee is happy to announce that on Saturday 30th March we have organised a member talk with two exciting guests. Bryan McCrystal and Dr. Sharon Madigan will be in attendance to host an interactive discussion on all things triathlon and nutrition. Bryan is one of Irelands most successful triathletes and holds the Irish Ironman distance record, Sharon is a registered dietitian that works in sport and can give an insight into a professional, scientific approach to diet. This should be a hugely beneficial talk from two very knowledgeable contributors in their respective fields, which should help get the 2019 season off to a great start. Bryan has asked for us to send in questions in advance so the session can be as informative as possible. In order to facilitate this please submit your questions to training@piranhatri.com.

Sharon is the Sport Institute of Irelands nutritionist and we have the good fortune to welcome her back again after she spoke to us along with Derval O’Rourke last year. More details in the bios below.

The talk will take place in Westwood Clontarf on Saturday 30th March, after swim training.

    Bios:
Bryan is a former professional footballer with Leeds United and Dundalk FC who subsequently turned to cycling and triathlon. He has become one of the most successful triathletes both nationally and internationally. He broke his own record for the Ironman distance national record at Challenge Roth last year whilst finishing 8th overall in a time of at 8:07:37 and also coaches triathletes and cyclists around the country.

Sharon Madigan graduated from the University of Ulster with an MSc. In Dietetics and has over 20 years’ experience in clinical dietetics. She obtained a PhD in Nutrition Education in 2005. She has worked with athletes across the board – from club and underage to Olympic level. She has also worked up to a country and provincial level in many team sports. In 2010 she commenced work with Irish Institute of Sport where she helps deliver nutrition services for Olympic and Paralympic sports.
