Piranha is happy to offer subisdised triathlon focused pilates classes on both the northside and southside.

Northside Pilates offering with Diana Stafford
1) Objectives of class:
Pilates Training for Athletes: What professional dancers discovered years ago, the GAA, Rugby Players and more are discovering now – that Pilates is one of the best forms of conditioning a top-tier athlete can participate in. Pilates’ integration of the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle and emphasis on proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment and smooth flowing movement allow athletes to access each part of the body individually, and become familiar with the functional mechanics. With proper Pilates training, the triathlete will experience a heightened performance. With improved posture, alignment, flexibility and core strength, the triathlete will be able to reach longer when swimming, and pedal powerfully when cycling, and a stride longer when running.2) Qualifications
Diana has been practising Pilates for over 15 years and teaching Pilates for 2 years since receiving her mat instructor training certification from Balanced Body® – the largest and longest established Pilates training certification body in the world. She is a member of Piranha and have applied the benefits of Pilates to all her sporting endeavours: triathlons all distances up to IM, long distance running: Marathons and 200mile relays and hockey3) Classes

1) Objectives of class:
This is a pilates class aimed at triathletes. Please note that this is not just a core class but will include the main principles of Pilates aiming to make you stronger , feel longer and be leaner. Pilates will optimise the activation of stabilising muscles around your spine and scapular area which are crucial in injury prevention.
Aileen has found Pilates to be so important in promoting optimal efficient movement and for her, its the number one injury prevention method for endurance athletes. Class size is capped at 8 to maintain focus and faciliate attention to detail.
2) Qualifications:
Aileen is a fully certified Stott Pilates instructor and a Clinical Specialist Musculoskeletal Chartered Physiotherapist.
3) Classes
Classes run for 6 weeks from Monday Dec 1st, 8th,15th – January 5th, 12th,19th and cost €65 as a special deal to Piranha members
Time: 9.00-10.00 pm
Location : Mt Merrion Community Centre, St Therese’s Church, Mt Merrion.
