Hey Folks,
Sinead will be doing an Open Water Training Session for Newbies in Seapoint on Friday June 6th, 7pm! Please reply to the post to give an indication of numbers. Any questions, just shout!
You will need:
– A full wetsuit (not a shorty)
– Be able to swim 100m continuously
– Warm clothes for after
– Preferably a brightly coloured swim-cap (to make it easier to see you in the sea!)
– A bit of bravery for the cold water 🙂
Meet:
– Seapoint, see here
– Friday June 6th, 7pm.
Directions (thanks Phil!):
If you’re heading out of town on the Rock Road, go past Blackrock on the main road and turn left at the lights after the Frank Keane BMW Showroom (formerly Maxwells). You turn back on yourself a bit and at the next lights turn right. Follow the coast road through the first pedestrian/pelican crossing and on down until you get to a second pedestrian/pelican crossing with the Martello Tower on your left. At the second crossing you will see a small lane entry with a white sign requiring the road to be kept clear for emergency vehicles and a brown sign that says Seapoint Beach. That’s the way down to the swim area. Turn sharp here down to the Tower and you’ll find the changing areas etc. Not much, if any, parking – so park in one of the streets off to the right and walk down. You have to pay to park up to 7pm, I think: check the signs.
If you are coming out of Dun Laoghaire on the coast road past the Salthill Dart station, the turn is on your right a bit further on up by the Martello Tower. Basically, once on the coast road find the Martello Tower and you’ll find the bathing place.
