Hi,
Just a few reminders and clarification of points on club swimming.
The sessions throughout the training week will focus on the following fitness components;
Monday – Technique
Tuesday – Endurance/Aerobic
Thursday – Technique & Speed
Friday – Endurance/Aerobic
Saturday – Endurance/Aerobic focus * Advanced lane to work off set provided by Anthony/Paul. *
Sunday – Technique & Speed FocusFull schedule available here; https://www.piranhatri.com/piranha-news/new-swimming-schedule/
– Club swim sessions will mirror the training blocks as detailed in the season plan; https://www.piranhatri.com/wp-content/uploads/Piranha-Training-Blocks-2016.pdf
– Members are asked not to leave their swim bags at the pool edge, instead take out what you need and leave bag beside the wall.
– During swim sets if a gap (greater than 5-7m) opens up in front of you, cut that length short and get just behind the swimmers feet in front again, this will;
1. Stop the whole lane fracturing into various sub groups.
2. Allow you get the benefit of a draft to help stay with pace.
3. Allow you to finish with group and recover between repetitions.
4. Prevent swimmers being lapped on longer reps.– Swimmers should aim to swim at the pace, and take the recovery, designated for that rep. This is particularly important for the people leading the lanes to note. It will ensure a smooth and consistent session for the whole lane.
– Unless you are a member of Westwood Club please leave the pool once the session is over.
– Again, unless you are a member of WW, please use the overflow car park at all times.
– It cannot be stressed enough how important the Westwood facility is to our club so please be courteous at the reception, particularly in the instance that your name is missing from the list for some reason. It is never Westwood’s fault!
– Piranha’s can attend any 3 swim sessions of their choosing during the week. Please adhere to this as it ensures everyone has equal access to the pool and decreases instances of lane congestion.
– Have fun swimming, and if someone makes a mistake in the lane it’s usually not because they’re trying to!
– I’d like to thank again all of our volunteer assistant swim coaches Paul, Louise, Alan & Mark who are all doing a fantastic job in keeping things moving and giving out some great feedback.
Thanks,
Ronan -
