    Hi,
Any advice to buy a watch just for running?
Specs would be: GPS, heart rate monitor, customisable display with basic functions (time, distance, speed in km/h and min/km, heart rate, maybe altitude gained and gradient), the option to have a foot pod, and a decent software to upload and analise your workouts.

I’m looking for advise from practical experience…
For a comparison on paper this one is pretty good:

Being a big garmin fan – I have always used either the Garmin 405 (running specific but dated now) or the 910xt (more ultra sport but WAY cool)

If you are looking for the brightest and shinest – you should check out the 220 – but it will be expensive…

However the old 405 should be going cheap 2nd hand and I found this to be a great little watch with all of the functionality as per your “spec”

The 620 is the next step up from the 220 and more expensive again. A very nice and light touchscreen watch but you’re paying for loads of extra features that you may not need. My favourites are (1) it downloads the next 7 days of GPS satellite locations so is ready to go within 2-3 seconds of turning on and (2) it automatically uploads via either wifi or Bluetooth when you finish your run so it’s immediately on garmin connect and strava.

If you get the 405 per Moody’s suggestion, make sure you get the plastic backed one and not the older metal backed one which turns your wrist green.
