Every year Piranha has a proud history of co-ordinating the John Davis 5km run in Oct/Nov which raises funds for the Irish Cancer Society, in honor of a long serving run coach whom passed away at the hands of cancer.
In recent years – we simply piggyback this on the back of a local park run with getting members to donate towards the ICS.
With the recent tragic loss of our active club mate, Karen Fenton, the committee has decided as a mark of respect to slightly rebrand this run as the “Piranha Memorial Run” where we recognise club mate and coaches alike who are no longer with us, such as Karen and John.
In addition to the name change – the committee has decided that all funds raised from this event (usually a couple of €K) will be split 50:50 between the Irish Cancer Society and the Ovarian Cancer Fund
As such – we are looking for a volunteer to lead the set up of this race on the morning of the 25th Nov.
Any volunteers will have the full support of the club in terms of what is required – essentially cajoling your fellow club mates to join in and working with the local park run guys providing a couple of volunteers.
Please drop me an email to chairman@piranhatri.com if interested in helping the club in this worthy cause.
