Hi all –
We appointed a Diversity & Inclusion officer at our last AGM and Dave Furlong has been busy in this role since then. He has been liaising with our governing body, Triathlon Ireland and reviewing best practice on this important topic. After consideration and consultation with Dave and the Piranha committee we have endorsed an inclusivity statement which we have now published on our website at the following location:
https://www.piranhatri.com/about-us/inclusion/
This inclusion statement is an important step for us as we want to ensure that Piranha is being as welcoming as possible to all members of the community. Please take a moment to read the above statement. The committee would like to thank Dave for his ongoing work on this important topic.
Secondly – as part of this announcement we would also like to announce that we have engaged with The Sanctuary Runner group (click here) who work with Asylum seekers in direct provision and develop relationships with local communities through running/jogging/walking groups.
They are looking for donations of second hand running gear for their groups, this can be any of the following items so long as it is in good condition:
Running Shorts
T-shirts
Runners
Leggings
Hoodies/sweatshirts
Caps
Socks
Sports bras
Oftentimes the Asylum seekers living in direct provision arrive with very little clothing so these donations would be much appreciated and put to a very worthy cause.
What we need you to do:
Pack up any run gear you have from the above list and bring it along to one of our Piranha training sessions in the next two weeks. There is a club volunteer who has agreed to be the gear donation collector for each session – you’ll find their name in the list at the link below.

Thanks in advance for your support on this!
