The very best of luck to the 26 Piranhas taking part in Challenge Roth this Sunday. Challenge Roth is the largest iron distance race in the world, It consists of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and ends with a marathon. 😮
Everyone who’s competing has put in alot of blood, sweat and tears into their training since (at least) last November. Many weekends involving 5 to 6 hour bike rides with runs of an hour or two off. Hats off to all the men and women who have sacrificed alot in their lives in order to complete the training and conquer their first (or multiple) Iron distance triathlon. It’s such an incredible achievement to get this far, the race itself is the icing on the cake.
So please join me in wishing all of our Roth-ers an incredible, fun race and may everyone have the best afterparty of their lives!
There is a total of 5,000 competitors with over 180,000 spectators descending on Roth over the coming days so it’s going to be an incredible atmosphere and day. Most of the piranhas are heading out this Thursday morning and I believe there are many aiming to break the club record which stands currently at 9hr 59min and is held by Sean Barry (IM Austria) as well as going for age group podiums.
What Challenge says about Roth:
Five reasons to race:
1) One of the oldest and most legendary triathlon events in the world
2) Premium race of the highest quality
3) Field of top international stars together with age groupers from more than 60 nations worldwide
4) Legendary welcome given to the athletes
5) Big triathlon festival for the whole familyRead more here: http://www.challenge-family.com/challenge-Roth” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone interested in a little Fantasy Roth where we predict the relative finishing places of Piranhas?

14th July 2014 at 12:40 pm #1869ciaranifParticipantThe very best of luck to ya’ll, may the force be with you!! 😛
And Ellen – don’t forget Freddie!!! The forum title should be ‘Rothers & Ciaran (aka Freddie)’ – who is also doing an Ironman on the same day – but God forbid that he follow the normal pattern and go to Roth 😉 ….no, Ciaran is off to do IM UK, but was very much a part of the Rother’s gang this year.
